FixHub Soldering Iron

Product Launch

Case Study

Repair should not be limited by where the outlet is.

iFixit created the FixHub Portable Soldering Station to give fixers professional-grade soldering power wherever the work needs to happen — at the bench, or out in the wild.

The goal was to create a product film that did more than list features. It needed to immediately show what FixHub solves: freedom from the wall, control in the hand, and a repair setup built with the same durability and thoughtfulness that defines iFixit’s ethos.

We paired slick studio product visuals with real-world lifestyle repair scenarios. A bold color wall, with dramatic silhouette’d sweeping light hits, and the addition of iFixit’s orange accents helped introduce FixHub as vibrant and radically new within their product line and visual language.

From there, we built the film around movement. The portable wrap case, power station, smart soldering iron, and handoff between the environments were all used to reinforce the same idea: this is a tool designed to go where the repair is.

Music and sound design played a defining role in shaping the energy of the piece. We selected a track with a rich sonic texture, then layered in detailed sound design inspired by years of Star Wars films — giving the product a sense of precision, personality, and future-facing momentum.

The final film positioned FixHub not just as a portable soldering station, but as a new kind of repair companion — powerful, thoughtful, and ready wherever the next fix begins.
